Putting a brand new dc power jack onto a dell inspiron 1200 laptop.
We are not greedy people and putting as much solder as it will take since we don't want to repair this system twice.

Below are some pictures of dell inspiron 1150.
top view of dell before dc jack is about to be replaced
A bad design in the casing making this particular jack in this particular design very vulnerable. Basically any movement with the power plug is not restricted and the jack could go in any directions left right, up or down. Dell eventually solved this issue by making a round hole where the plug goes into the jack rather than a big square.

Removing the keyboard
Careful with the cables they can handle only 1-2 times of being plugged and unplugged.

Removing components from the board to get access to the dc power jack on this dell inspiron 1150
Taking all of the excess components off to get access to the dc power jack.
As you can see the positive pins are not making the contact perfectly.
Top view of the jack
Bottom view of the jack, seems like someone already tried to fix this jack before us.
Somebody really tried hard to fix this thing up before us.
After removing excess solder from the legs of the jack we can clearly see that whoever tried to repair this jack before removed all the foil from the tracers, so there is no way for electricity to go from the jack's legs into the board anymore. This requires extra work that we of course do at no extra charge but success rates are 50/50 especially with dell computers.

Top part of the board isn't looking that bad.
